Honey Process

The Honey Operation

Remsburger Maple Farm manages 40 hives with 3 bee yards.  Approximately 2.4 million employees, plus or minus a couple of thousand.  We believe the benefits of honey bees to be numerous.  First and foremost, the bees pollinate our trees, flowers, etc. in our area.  Second, honey is beneficial to our diets and is very nutritious.

The Process of Making Honey

Honey is made by the bees going to flowers and licking up the nectar.  The bees deposit the nectar in the honey comb and fan it to cure it.  When the honey is cured, the bees will cover it with a beeswax capping.  It takes 2 million blossoms to make 1 lb. of honey.
